Do your patients know about our Healthier You program?
Have you heard of our Healthier You program? As a provider, you can recommend this program to your patients who are looking to lose weight, eat more healthfully, increase physical activity, and reduce the risk of conditions such as diabetes and heart disease. In recognition of National Nutrition Month, learn more about the Healthier You program at AllWays Health Partners.
Reduce the risk of diabetes and heart disease
Our Healthier You program is a chronic disease prevention program helping patients lower their risk of cardiometabolic conditions such as diabetes and heart disease. To support this goal, participants work towards two main goals:
- Weight goal—lose at least 5-7% of starting body weight.
- Fitness and activity goal—work up to adding 150 minutes of physical activity each week, such as walking on average of 30 minutes, 5 days a week.
Lisa-Beth Doyle, MS, RD, LDN at AllWays Health Partners added, “Healthier You is a fully remote program we launched in June 2021. Although the program is new to us, the curriculum has been around for years and has been thoroughly tested and researched. When members learn about the Healthier You program, they’re excited that it’s available to them through their health insurance and don’t have to worry about copayments or additional charges. Enrollment into this program is free for members of AllWays Health Partners.”
The health benefits of weight-loss and physical activity
Research shows that people who have risk factors for developing a condition like diabetes or heart disease can significantly reduce their risk by losing weight and increasing their physical activity. Healthier You is a 1-year program that offers personalized health coaching via phone and text. All materials and education are based on a proven-effective curriculum from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), and materials from the American Heart Association (AHA).
Participants of Healthier You speak directly with their Health Coach for about 30 minutes every other week for the first 6 months, and then monthly for the next 6 months. We are flexible with scheduling to help meet our member's needs. All of our Health Coaches are certified Lifestyle Coaches by the Association of Diabetes Care and Education Specialists (ADCES) and are excited to work with your patients on a journey to better health. When asked about how she got into nutrition she answered, “Nutrition is my passion. During my first elective course in undergrad, I fell in love with nutrition and knew that from that course on, this would be my profession. I love educating people and helping them understand how nutrition contributes to their health. Food is medicine—and what eat can impact our overall health, how we feel, how we sleep, and how we're energized.”
