United Against Racism
Today's blog post is a message from AllWays Health Partners' President and CEO David Segal regarding current events.
Dear Providers,
I am reaching out at a pivotal and painful time for our nation. Recent events have exposed systemic racism and intolerance that have persisted for too long.
The stakes are high at the intersection of public health and safety, and justice and equality. As part of a larger health care community that’s committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, we cannot stand idly by.
At AllWays Health Partners, one of our most important core values is to be consciously inclusive and create an environment where diversity can fearlessly thrive. This focus has driven our work from the very beginning.
As a health plan that was founded to serve underrepresented Boston city workers, we have a proud history of inclusion in our communities. From our origin in 1986 to promote equity and access to high-quality health care, to our support of the YW Boston’s Stand Against Racism and our public awareness campaigns that address health disparities in the communities we serve – our commitment to diversity runs deep. But it is not enough, and we must do more.
Together with Mass General Brigham, we have unique opportunities to ensure a more equitable society so that everyone can lead healthier lives. We know that we only succeed when our colleagues, customers, network providers, broker partners, and all constituents feel fully seen, heard, and appreciated.
We firmly believe that bigotry and hate have no place in our society. Silence is equally unacceptable and the time to speak out is now. It is also important to recognize that we can do more. And we will.
We stand strong with you, united against racism.
